It’s no secret to anyone that Canadian music bands are some of the best in the world. The country is full of immense talent and, fortunately for us, they are generous enough to share them with the world. Canadians feel sure enough of themselves to venture away from the conventional pop sound. Some bands present a completely different sound and still manage to dominate the airwaves. Wildlife is such an example. Wildlife is known all around the world yet many people don’t know that they are Canadians. What makes this music band so special? The fact that they emerge from no-man’s land and became an instant sensation. These artists are expected to release a new album at some point or another. Until they do, you can play music from the Age of Everything, Wildlife’s third record.
Wildlife is an indie rock music band, drawing inspiration from the likes of the Beatles and The Velvet Underground. Similar to other alternative rock bands, they favor the use of one-of-a-kind or less popular instruments. The Canadian music band has succeeded in making a name for themselves due to their originality. They came to the scene in 2005, the moment when singer/guitarist Povinksi and guitarist Daryl Smith moved to Glasgow to start a group. They came together out of the desire to make great music. It’s important not to forget about the other members of the music band, namely Peter Kelly (drummer) and Billy Homes. At present, the group is based in Toronto, Ontario. What could have possibly determined them to return to Canada? We think that they were longing for home. Perhaps the band members just didn’t like the rainy weather.
Wildlife steers away from mainstream music; that is for sure. Their last album, Age of Innocence, is a testimony to this fact. What characterize the 12 track record are powerful tunes and nostalgia. When you listen to the music, you can’t help but travel back in time. As Wildlife said, writing the songs seemed like an exercise. What the artists wanted was to connect to the present. The truth is that many individuals insist on living in the past, struggling to take an opportunity of things, feelings, and ideas that tie them to the world. Age of Innocence is at the same time loud and earnest, which is the reason why it’s so popular. Some of the best tracks on the album are actually the opening ones. We’re talking about A New Pain and Dead Century. However, the rest of the songs are just as good. It’s essential to listen to all of the tracks.
Has Wildlife’s music changed with time? If you were to ask them, they would say yes. What they are doing right now is completely different, so there isn’t room for comparability. The music is dark and harmonious.Wildlife takes pleasure in every album that they record. This doesn’t stop them though from making changes to their music. We hope that Wildlife is working on a new album. They are too good to stay in the dark.
